Rurelec PLC is an AIM-listed business set up to own and develop power generation projects in South America. This complex assignment has involved taking Executive Directorship of this quoted Group and has neccessitated the unravelling of a tangled web of legal, commercial and financial issues. The role has actively involved the disposal of non-core subsidiaries in Peru, dealing with two major adverse operating events in the Group’s Argentinian power station requiring several visits to Argentina; repairing damaged relationships with JV partners; significant improvements in cash generation; reductions in headcount and many other operating costs; settlement of over £4million of secured and unsecured debt and taking primary responsibility for shareholder and debt holder relationships.
AZO Network is an exciting , fast growing digital content marketing business. It is Australian -owned but operationally based in Manchester. AZO is a leading online publisher producing multimedia content for the audiences of blue chip clients in Healthcare, Life Sciences, Sensors, Materials, Medical & Nanotechnology. This role has involved advice to the Board and Shareholders on Financial matters, financial strategy and mentoring the financial controller and management team for the Australian owners. It also involved support work on a potential Reverse Takeover on the Australian Stock Exchange.
Consultant to DACS Ltd, a £7m process control expert, predominantly in the automotive and food processing industries. Alongside the MD and Financial Controller, helped rescue the business from financial oblivion in 2009/10. We have since restored profitability and paid down over 80% of bank debt, growing the business and arranging a buy-out of minority shareholders. Revamped financial management and recruited good financial controller. Instrumental in assisting the business in a legal claim which yielded a half million pound payout in 2014. Helped DACS recover from a loss of £280k in 2011 to a profit of £1.005 million in 2014.
Successfully designed and implemented cashflow forecasting, cash pooling and foreign exchange strategy for a privately owned £50 million Italian Pharmaceutical Group, implementing a cash pooling arrangement in four European countries. Assisted and implemented transfer pricing initiatives and tax and forex risk mitigation strategies. Raised £2 million expansion funding.
Consultant to and investor in The Cake Crew Ltd, a £10 million own label supplier of cakes to the major UK supermarket chains which had been through Administration and pre-pack. Helped a team turn a £372k loss to a substantial profit within 2 years. Arranged 3 rounds of additional funding in 2 years. Invested in equity in the business and in buying its property and advised on deals to buy-out minority shareholders. Mentored Financial controller and revamped long term cash forecasting and strategic planning. Arranged grants, interest free debt and commercial debt to fund post-recovery expansion investment.
